The path to your Driving License
Apply for a Driver's License Permit
To start practice driving, you must apply for a driving license permit. The application can be made here and you must be 16 years old to be allowed to practice driving. When you apply for a driving license permit, you are required to undergo an eye examination and fill out a health declaration. You can have the eye examination (eye certificate) done by an optician or doctor. They usually are able to send the certificate directly to the Swedish Transport Agency.
Driving license with ADHD, Autism and Asperger's
If you need to submit a medical certificate for your diagnosis to the Swedish Transport Agency, you can contact Läkarintyg Direkt. They will help you quickly and easily via video call and send the certificate to the Swedish Transport Agency.
Start Driving at Traffic School
You can book your first driving lesson through our reception. Either by calling the reception or by visiting us at the driving school. Our receptionist will help you take the first step and give you the information you need. You will then confirm that your personal information is correct and accept our terms and conditions. We comply with the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Private Driving Practice
Once you have received your driving permit, you are welcome to start practicing driving with us at the traffic school. Please note that the driving permit only applies to driving in a traffic school. In order to practice driving privately, both you and your supervisor must complete a supervisor training course and the supervisor must be granted a supervisor certificate. Application for supervision is made here. .
Planning Driving Lessons and Theory
When you come to us for the first time, we will base our training on your previous experience and knowledge. Together we will go through our training plan and discuss which parts are most relevant to you. If you have already driven a lot privately and have good prior knowledge, we recommend that you start with a test lesson. This way, we can give you a realistic estimate of both the scope and cost of the training early on.
Risk education parts 1 and 2
To get a B driving license, you must complete the mandatory risk training, which consists of two parts. Our receptionist will help you plan both parts in connection with your training. Both part 1 and part 2 must be completed and approved before you can book and write the knowledge test.
- Part 1 focuses on risky behaviors linked to alcohol, drugs, fatigue and other factors that affect driving ability.
- Part 2 deals with speed, safety and driving in special conditions.
Fulfillment of learning objectives and Rehearsal Lesson
Towards the end of the education for receiving a driving license, an educational validation is planned.
The purpose of the educational validation is to have another teacher assess the student's current skill level. The student may see this as an opportunity to "pretend it's a test drive". The teacher will be very sparing in helping the student. Instead, the instructions will be more about where the student is going. The student's task is to drive as independently as possible without assistance.
The educational validation is a way for teachers to assess whether they think the student has progressed enough in their education for a driving test or whether the student needs to book more appointments or drive more at home.
Knowledge Test and Driving Test
When you are about to finish your driver's license training, the knowledge test and driving test are booked at the same time. The tests are taken a few weeks apart because it is difficult to find theory and driving times. The knowledge test is the part you do first and requires that both risk training courses have been completed beforehand. The driving test is the second part and requires that you have passed a knowledge test before you can take it.
